Carabiners & Hooks

Connectors—as in carabiners and hooks—are an essential part of any climbing / fall protection setup. Once your main gear is in place, such as your harness and lanyard, it’s important to think about how you will make connections and stay connected. Depending upon your work environment, you may place a big priority on the weight of your connecting devices. Tree climbers and tower workers, for example, typically (although not always) prefer aluminum connectors because they are strong enough to be safe and light enough to carry in multiples. On the other hand, the typical construction / industrial worksite is pretty rough. When strength and ultimate durability are of greatest concern, steel connectors are your best bet. No matter your profession, we carry a connecting device to meet your needs.

Four different manufacturers are shown below, each with a great lineup of connecting devices. When it comes to steel carabiners, FallTech® is our primary source. Their new series of carabiners come in proven, popular shapes and feature 3,600lbs gates (compliant with ANSI Z-359.1-2007). US Rigging and AMP both offer a big assortment of connectors, ranging from aluminum to steel and multiple types of gate closures (such as double-locking, triple-locking and screw-locking). These two brands provide the bulk of the connectors we sell to our tree climbing customers. Lastly, we carry products from Climb Right. They are a newer vendor for us, but their carabiners (not to mention their other products) have been popular due to solid design, craftsmanship and cost.

It is important to note that we only sell OSHA compliant connecting devices. All of the carabiners and hooks you see here have breaking strengths at or above (often high above) the OSHA requirement of 5,000lbs.
