Steel swage sleeves are installed using a hydraulic press and the proper set of dies. Such "swage presses" are common in rigging shops and some large businesses or government entities. These sleeves are used for making flemished eye splices, which involves separating the wire rope strands and weaving them back together to form an eye. Crosby makes their "Cold Tuff" sleeves using a special low carbon steel that is designed for low temperature toughness, and resists cracking when swaged. Sleeves may be stamped after swaging for field identification (be sure to follow stamping guidelines on product specifications sheet). Available in sizes from 1/4" - 4". Smaller sizes are sold by the box, larger sizes are sold in bulk.
