If this is mounted to a house outside wall that is concrete block, is it better to go into the block itself or the mortar in between the block? Most homes in South Florida are made with block and of course the block has hollow spots.
1 Answer
Because we cannot physically inspect the exact block you would install into, we recommend splitting the difference and installing half into the block itself, and half into the mortar. This was verified by Abus, the manufacturer of this product. You may also want to consult with a licensed contractor for further professional opinion.

Nice Heavy Duty Floor/Wall Anchor
June 29, 2020
I give this 4 stars because I have another floor anchor that is more secure - but this is heavy duty. I installed it with a resin kit for more secure mount to my garage floor. I pair it with a Pewag chain and Abus Granite lock. Happy with it. Install takes some work with a heavy duty hammer drill, but the effort pays off.
Pros
- Heavy duty
- Large shackle fits multiple chains/locks
- Low profile when not in use
Cons
- This isn't a heavily weighted con, but worth mentioning. There are more secure floor/wall anchor options. But -- for the price and application, it is hard to beat. It would take a lot of work to defeat this anchor by a would be thief. They would probably go after your locks or chain before trying to defeat the anchor.
