Can this product be used in a socket with a 1x19 Galv wire?
1 Answer
We are not aware of any specific prohibition against this, BUT, Crosby does state that Wirelock is for use only with their 416, 417, 427 and 517 spelter sockets, and that those sockets are based on 6x7, 6x19 or 6x37 wire rope constructions.  Additionally, the catalog states that "Strand constructed with minimal number of wires (e.g. 1x7) requires special consideration that socket basket length be five (5) times the strand diameter or fifty (50) times the wire diameter, whichever is the greater."

Can this product be used on/in a socket for stainless steel wire--300, 304, 316, etc.? Also what fluid/chemical is used to clean/etch the stainless steel wires prior pouring the Wirelock? Thanks for your time in advance.
1 Answer
In looking at the Crosby Application & Warning sheet, it says: Do not use WIRELOCK with stainless steel rope in salt water environment applications.
