Two Brands and Plenty of Options
We offer two main brands of hand winches: HIT and Thern. HIT makes their winches in Japan, and they are a very high-quality winch, unlike other winches on the market that are imported from the cheapest manufacturers possible. All three HIT models below have automatic brakes, making them safe for pulling and lifting. But if you're looking for something specific, you may wish to consider Thern. As a USA manufacturer (based in MN), Thern makes the highest quality hand winches on the market, and they have something for practically everyone. Be advised that some of their models are rated for pulling only, so do your homework before making a purchase.
Pulling or Lifting?
As mentioned above, it's very important that you buy a winch that is rated for lifting if that is your intended usage. All three HIT models are rated for lifting, and their HW-1800 Hand Winch
is a best-selling model. It's got just enough capacity for most users, with a small footprint and a great price point.
With Thern, it's important to look at their model numbers, as most models rated for lifting end with a "B" or "PB" (one exception is their Model 4WM2
--this unit is rated for lifting, but the part number doesn't tell you that). You can view all of Thern's winches and see which are rated for lifting by clicking here
. They have so many models that it's tough to pick just one best-seller. But, their Model 4022PB
is very popular. With 1,000 lbs lifting capacity, a compact frame size and a price that doesn't break the bank, it's a great option for many of our customers.
