I haven't tried beating this lock to death with a sledge or cutting it with any tools, but It certainly has held up well in a marine environment. I have 2 that have been on continuous duty on my saltwater jetdock for 2 years. They have a bit of surface rust staining as is typical of most stainless- nothing serious, and the lock mechanism still works flawlessly. I tried 2 of the expensive chain locks and they are so totally rusted I can't get them off.
