Product Description

The Only Six-Sided Security Chain We Offer!
Peerless went their own direction when it came to designing a high-quality, cut-resistant security chain. Their effort really paid off! Their "hex" chain is a high alloy chain drawn in a six-sided (hexagonal) shape and heat-treated to be extremely hard. The hex shape does not allow bolt cutters to get a proper bite, which prevents them from cutting the chain (check out our YouTube videos!). It is ideal for securing equipment or portable tools at a jobsite or for general purpose security. Instead of being hardened merely on the surface (aka "case-hardened"), this chain is hardened all the way through to 53-58 HRC. This means a would-be thief works just as hard to get through the middle of the chain as he does the outside of the chain.

What Size is This Chain?
The diameter of this chain, at 7/16" (11mm), is also unique. It sits right between two very popular sizes, 3/8" (10mm) and 1/2" (12-13mm). Many customers choose this chain because they feel they get the best of both worlds--not too heavy, yet still beefy and intimidating. The blue color really looks sharp too!

  • Hexagonal, thru-hardened links
  • Made from alloy steel
  • Blue, anti-corrosion finish
  • Chain Hardness: 53-58 HRC Min.

Which lock would be recommended with this chain?
1 Answer
Peerless has their own padlock which is designed to work perfectly with this chain: https://www.westechrigging.com/peerless-chain-padlock.html.  Of course you can use a different lock too if you wish.

How does the blue anti-corrosion finish compare to galvanizing?
1 Answer
Overall feedback from customers has been very positive with no complaints about corrosion.  It really depends where you'll be using the chain (i.e., near salt water).  The factory stated the following about their testing: "Using a 5% salt spray, white rust would appear toward the end of a 24 hour test.  Red rust would appear toward the end of a 72 hour test."

This chain is sold by the linear foot, so @ $11.95 per foot, the price would be $71.70 for six feet, plus shipping.

Very Hard to Cut, Fits Padlock with 7/16 Inch Shackle Diameter
December 24, 2020
I purchased this chain to secure an item stored outdoors. Two end links easily fit an ASSA-MAX+ padlock with a 7/16" shackle diameter, 1" shackle height, and 7/8" shackle width. Two mid links also fit this padlock, so purchasing excess chain may not necessarily be a problem.
  • Difficult to cut
  • End links and mid links fit padlocks with thick shackles
  • Some coating rubs off on my skin, making my hands sparkly after I handle the chain
  • An end link cannot pass through another end link

Slowed Down the Thieves!
July 22, 2020
I purchased a 20 ft length to lock up four ATV's in a 12x30 barn style shed, located in a remote area. After four years, the thieves finally came. They were able to use a Milwaukee grinder to defeat the chain (they left it behind) and made off with two ATV's but only hid them behind some trees to come back later, I recovered the ATV's. Security camera captured most of this activity. They arrived at night but it took so long to defeat the chain, it got daylight on them and something spooked them away. The chain worked, it slowed down the thieves.

Merchant Response:With power tools and enough time, pretty much anything can be defeated, but we're sincerely happy the chain put up enough of a fight that the thieves ran out of time and you got your ATV's back!!
  • Intimidating chain, feels secure.
  • Can still be cut with die grinder.

The chain is a little heavy, looks big, & has plenty of room for GOOD LOCKS. I listed below my reasons for buying this heavy duty chain. I bought the chain for my trailer because if you just lock your hitch up, it would suck if (thief) he(r) didn't have a couple of wrenches or something else to pull your hitch off & put his or her own hitch on & drive off with your trailer!

I work in the town of Paradise where almost the whole town burned in 2018. The theft of everything is rampant here. The chain will stop low level thieves, not professional thieves. The main problem here are drug thieves & this stops THEM PROVIDED THAT YOU GET A GOOD
PADLOCK WITH CHAIN 99% OF THE TIME. I've had 5 of the "high quality" master locks cut or broken! They are JUNK!!! Went to ABUS 83cs/55,(chain & lock) they will cost you but what are you trying to protect determines price for me!
  • -Tool level to defeat will be noisy or take long time
  • -Cheap for the level of protection
  • -Make sure what you lock to & with are at least same or better quality of chain
  • -NONE does what I want!
