Product Description

What It Is
A solid, high-security padlock made to work with large security chain up to 14mm--it has the most generous interior dimensions of all the Viro padlocks we offer, and even fits 5/8" Grade 100 Chain! Its body is made from one-piece, special case-hardened steel that leaves an impression of both quality and durability.

Why You Need It
Because a good security chain is only as good as the lock you secure it with. This lock's 13mm dead-bolt is protected by the chain itself. Thieves look for the quick and easy target, but with this lock, there are no shortcuts! Bolt cutter access is impaired!

How Big Is It?
Well, it weighs 2.24 lbs (1015 g) and is a handful for anyone with average hands--it is manageable, but on the bulky side. You can easily slip this into your backpack, purse, etc. and tote it without too much trouble, but you'll know it's there.

How Secure Is It?
This is a true, high-security padlock that is ideal for use with large security chain, up to 14mm. Thieves hate these locks due to the high-quality materials used and their exclusive shape that makes them practically impossible to grip with traditional cutters or other common tools. The solid, one-piece body features a special "NIPLOY PROCESS", which results in a corrosion-proof nickel plating. The dead-bolt is made from case-hardened, tempered steel with a programmed breakage head to prevent pull-out. The security cylinder is built with 6 pins, replaceable, protected by a rotating anti-drill plate in special case-hardened, tempered 4.4mm thick steel. Supplied with two Viro Top Security profile nickel-plated brass keys.

What does it cost to buy additional keys for this lock. I would need eight keys.

Unfortunately we do not offer extra keys for this lock at this time. However, since these keys are not dimpled, you should be able to source them from a local locksmith.

We did receive input from one customer that he ordered blanks for the 4126 padlock, and had them cut to work just fine with his 4144 padlock. It sounds like this is a viable option.

LOVE THE QUALITY FEEL

BOUGHT THIS LOCK AND 4' OF 12 MM PEWAG CHAIN TO LOCK UP MY UTILITY TRAILER WHEEL.

I HAVE A DUPLICATE OF THIS SET UP ON THE OTHER WHEEL.

DEFINITELY A HEAVY DUTY LOCK AND CHAIN. GREAT SECURITY UPGRAD.

Pros
  • CAN LOCK UP ONE END OF THE CHAIN AND ONE MIDDLE LINK, DOES NOT HAVE TO LOCK UP BOTH ENDS OF THE CHAIN.
  • WHICH HELPS A LOT AS YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE EXACT CHAIN MEASUREMENTS.
  • IF YOU'RE OFF BY A LINK OR TWO NO PROBLEM LOCK UP ONE END OF THE CHAIN AND ONE OF THE NON-END LINKS.
Cons
  • NONE OTHER THAN MONEY. BUT TO ME IT'S MONEY WELL SPENT PROTECTING MY LARGER TRAILER INVESTMENT.

Heavy Duty Security
September 21, 2020
Great heavy duty padlock. Works with the Pewag 1/2 and 5/8 grade 120 chains, which are a few millimeters thicker than the equivalent sized Pewag security chains.
Pros
  • Hardened steel lock
  • Shrouded shackle
  • Supports Pewag's largest chains
Cons
  • Heavy, almost 5 lbs

Best Steel Container Center Lock
September 1, 2020
They call it a 1/2 security chain padlock, which it would be perfect for. I bought them to replace the similar looking, smaller, weaker Abus lock protected by a steel box on the doors of ocean containers. Replaced the smaller Abus locks without a problem. We did extend the steel box bottom to completely cover access to the larger Viro lock.
Pros
  • Heavy, all steel, well designed, easy open lock with an anti drill spin plate at the key entrance to prevent drill out.
Cons
  • None. If my thieving neighbors try grinding these off, they will be buried deep with full Back Hoe honors.
