Chain - 9/32" (7mm)
7ft
This is the light-duty, highly-portable and bike-friendly version of Pewag's vaunted square security chain. While it is smaller, it has the same hardness (62 HRC min.), same square design and the same electro-galvanized finish. We have many, many happy customers using this chain. For heavy-duty appilcations where maximum security is the concern, we recommend 10mm chain and larger. But if your first priority is lightweight portability and visual deterrence, this chain is a good choice.
Padlock
1x
Pewag partnered with Viro to find the perfect match for their 7mm security chain, and this is the result. The Viro 4228 screams quality! It has a fully armored brass body with tempered, copper, nickel, case-hardened and chrome plated steel armor. It also features independent and rotating lock-bolts, made of steel with pull-resistant programmed head breakage. Ball type locking mechanism, key retaining and with 5 pin pull-resistant plug.
Chafe Sleeve (optional)
7ft
For this size of chain we have two options. One is our generic black sleeve, that really is quite similar to the Pewag sleeve, but without the Pewag branding. But for those that want the branding (theft deterrent), and prefer OEM options, rest assured the Pewag sleeve was hand-picked by Pewag to work with your 7mm chain! Both options will help protect the finish on your chain, and help to protect your sensitive items from being scratched or damaged when chaining up.

I plan on locking up an electric bike.  Sometimes I leave it on my rv bike rack overnight at a campground or I may leave for a while and go to dinner etc.   I also use the bike to go to grocery store.  So, I'm concerned not only about security but weight.   What is the weight of 6' of the 3/8" chain lock combo vs. the 9/32" combo and what would you recommend?

1 Answer
The 3/8" kit (PW-13620-K6) weighs about 11.82 lbs while the 9/32" kit (PW-21148-K6) weighs only 5.22 lbs.  There is a big difference in terms of the chain weight per foot, and also the respective padlocks used.  In terms of security, 3/8" will be much more durable, cut-resistant and theft-deterrent than 9/32".  That said, we have many happy customers using 9/32" security chain.

This does not look like the Blue Chain I see in some pictures. Does Pewag offer two different version of their 9/32" (7mm) Security Chain? Is it possible to get the 9/32" (7mm) blue chain with the Viro Padlock together as a bundle purchase?
1 Answer
The blue chain you're seeing out there is not actual security chain--it is actually Pewag's Grade 120 lifting chain. While it is tough chain, it's not nearly has hard as Pewag's actual security chain. We do not offer that chain bundled with a padlock, but it is available on our site in gray if you want to purchase it (click here.
