Product Description

Hoffman uses only Champ brand replacement calks (aka "spikes"). MacNeill Engineering, owner of the Champ brand, is known for exceptional quality and innovation. Their logger calks are no exception, and are produced using only the highest quality, high-carbon steel. To ensure consistently high quality, they keep their production tolerances extremely tight. After production, the calks are heat-treated to a tool steel hardness to provide maximum strength, durability and reliability. A one-piece construction is done by cold heading and trimming which ensures better durability and eliminates any chance of separation of the logging point and plate. Standard plating is zinc blue which provides excellent resistance to corrosion.

How wide is the screw in portion? I found some women's boots that have been resoled with calk receptacles. Not sure about what brand will fit them though.
1 Answer
The calk receptacles appear to be threaded 1/4"-28.

How long is the spike in mm?

The tapered portion itself is about 7mm, and if you measure from tip to the backside of the plate, it is about 12mm total.

Do they have a Carbit tip in the caulks?
1 Answer
These are just standard spikes, but you might be looking for Cer-Mec spikes. They have a ceramic alloy ball welded to the tip, so they last much longer than the standard spikes, but are not as sharp/pointed. Picture attached.

Do you have the receptacle (where the spikes screw in) and do you ship to Canada.
1 Answer
Unfortunately the spike receptacle is not a part we offer. But yes, we do ship to Canada quite often. All shipping options are shown in the cart during checkout.

I slipped on the ice in upstate N.Y. around 6 years ago. That slip put me in the hospital for five days. After I got out I ordered a pair of Viking boots and they are just what the DR. ordered. I did wear the spikes down over time so ordered replacements. Perfect. I am so happy and thank you for a great product.

Very well made replacement spikes. I use them in my golf shoes to help me walk safely on the ice in the winter. I have a steep driveway, and they work well to give me sure footing.
