General purpose wire rope is a category that includes the most commonly sold / used constructions, including 6x19, 6x25 & 6x26. It is typically used for making slings, chokers and winch lines. In certain applications--usually in larger diameters--it is also used as a crane line (when spin-resistant properties are not needed). You can often use it interchangeably with GAC, but it has no specific corrosion protection aside from its inherent (typically black) greasy finish. Available for purchase by the foot, with automatic quantity price breaks; the more you buy, the more you save per foot.
