Product Description

  • Galvanized wire rope (aka aircraft cable) is one of the most popular types of wire rope
  • Not intended for aircraft use, not certified to MIL-W-83420
  • Because nylon is more flexible and durable, this type of cable is commonly used on exercise equipment, or whenever you need the cable to run through a pulley system
  • The cable is formulated using special heat treating process to achieve higher fatigue resistance, and our special nylon coating is infused with graphite to improve abrasion resistance
  • Available in bulk spools or sold by the foot
  • Mill certificates available upon request

I  have a 3500 lb ATV winch that specifies a 3/16" galvanized steel aircraft cable.  Would your 3/16' nylon coated cable be a suitable replacement?  I think so but wanted to confirm.
1 Answer
Possibly, yes, but we would caution that the nylon coating (or any coating for that matter) will eventually wear out and start to fall off.  Basic galvanized cable would likely be a more hassle-free choice for the long haul.
