Steel swage sleeves are installed using a hydraulic press and the proper set of dies. Such "swage presses" are common in rigging shops and some large businesses or government entities. These sleeves are used for making turnback eye splices, which is the simplest way to make a wire rope eye. The efficiency rating of turnback eyes is 94% of the catalog strength of the wire rope. Crosby makes their "Cold Tuff" sleeves using a special low carbon steel that is designed for low temperature toughness, and resists cracking when swaged. Sleeves may be stamped after swaging for field identification (be sure to follow stamping guidelines on product specifications sheet). Available in sizes from 5/16" - 1-1/4". All sizes sold by the box, except 1-1/4" which is sold in bulk.
