A High-Quality Product Made in the U.S.A.
Johnson is considered more or less the standard when it comes to open wedge sockets. For starters, they offer an American made product that has proven to be reliable and sturdy, backed with decades of solid performance in the field. Easy-to-change Gunnebo Johnson wedge sockets consist of a C-1040 normalized and tempered cast steel body, a C-1040 cold-finished bar stock pin with cotters and a ductile iron wedge to specific wire rope size. Together, the wedge and body act as a vise which grips the wire rope and locks it in place.
Modular System is Easy To Use
Perhaps just as important as their inherent quality is how easy these sockets are to use. They are truly user-friendly. Simply swap out the wedge to change diameters (all wedge sockets accommodate 2-3 sizes of wire rope, see chart below). For example, to switch from an overhaul ball application calling for a 7/8" wire rope to a block application calling for a 1" rope, it is not necessary to buy a completely new wedge socket. A simple change-out of wedges will suffice. Available for wire rope sizes from 3/8" - 1-1/2". Replacement wedges available.
