How thick is the blade material?

1 Answer
Due to the design of the blade it's tough to get a precise read with calipers, but our estimation is about 0.32" thick in the middle of the blade.

I would like to use this to flatten hewed logs.  Will it be possible to hone a durable sharp edge on this tool?
1 Answer
We will assume it's possible, but we haven't heard of anyone doing it and we cannot guarantee it would work.  This tool is simply not made for that, but your suggested alteration might work out well.  We do also offer a Draw Shave to help with log shaping.

In what country is this manufactured (from where does the head and handle come)?  Is the steel forged or cast?
1 Answer
Warwood's tools are 100% made in the USA, and the head is forged, not cast.
